Ask whether the number belongs in the joke
Some people love a milestone birthday. Others would rather hear about the dinner plans. Match your wording to the person before deciding that turning 40 needs a joke about being old.
Notice what matters in their life now. It could be work they enjoy, a friendship they have kept, a project they have started, or the way they make time for other people. Avoid measuring their birthday against a checklist of marriage, children, property, or career achievements.
A useful message can look forward without implying the past was wasted. Wish them more of something they enjoy, or name something you want to do together this year.
Messages you can adapt
Make the wording sound like you
Use the age once, then write about the person. If they dislike attention around the number, choose a version without it. A shared plan often gives the message more character than a milestone slogan.
Put it on a HoorayTime card
In HoorayTime, choose Birthday and an available style that suits their taste. Age-focused portrait styles require the age: enter 40 only if the person wants the number on the artwork. Otherwise, avoid those styles and choose an illustrated card. Add your own greeting. For a portrait, use a photo they agree to have used for generation. New artwork requires Pro, an available spark and internet access.
Check the whole image, including embedded numerals or letters. Hiding editable text does not remove them. Adjust the greeting, font, color and placement, then export the image. Save it to Photos or share it yourself through your device’s share menu. HoorayTime does not send it automatically.
Before you send it
Keep age jokes affectionate and optional. Make sure both the generated number and the typed wording match the birthday. Ask permission for the intended use of the photo, especially if you plan to share the card publicly.
